The Classic Head quarter eagle type was struck from 1834 through 1839. The 1834 is the most available date of this short-lived type, making it affordable and perfect for type purposes.

This lustrous slider shows nice medium green-gold color and it has the “look” of an MS61 to MS62. It has a touch of friction on the high spots and a few very light marks in the fields including a vertical scrape near the second to last star on the obverse.

The last CAC approved AU58 example of this date to sell at auction was a PCGS slabbed piece, offered as Heritage 8/13: 4965, which was bid to $2,468.

CAC has approved 16 in this grade with 39 finer.
