The most available With Motto New Orleans eagles in higher grades are the 1901-O, 1903 and 1904-O. Each of these can be found in grades up to and including MS63 with much difficult. In MS64 and higher, this is another story and all eagles from this mint are, of course, very rare in Gem.

This extremely frosty example shows very rich orange-gold color from sotrage and my guess is that it was sourced in Europe although I don’t know this for sure. There are scattered abrasions in the fields and a mint-made copper spot on the reverse located on the berry above the T in TEN.

There were two PCGS MS63 1903-O eagles sold at auction in 2012. One realized $2,115 while the other sold for $2,300.

I used to sell this date for $3,000 or so in PCGS MS63 and the market has dropped about 30% due to some poor quality pieces in 63 holders selling cheaply at auction. I think this date is great value at less than twice the price of what a very common $10 Lib like a 1901-S currently brings.
