The 1806 Round 6 is likely the most common half eagle of this type and there are oodles known in the AU55 to AU58 range but only a small percentage are nice enough to garner approval from CAC.
This piece has the naked-eye appearance of a Choice Uncirculated with deep yellow-gold color and rich, frosty luster on both sides. The stars at the left obverse are weak at the radials (as always) while the central reverse is a touch weak, as made. The surfaces are clean and choice with just a small amount of friction seen on the high spots.
The last CAC approved AU55 example of this date to sell at auction brought a very strong $13,513 as Newman V: 3280 in November 2014.
Here is a pleasing and comparatively affordable example which is just perfect for the type collector seeking one special Capped Bust Right half eagle for his set.
