Three 20th century Philadelphia Liberty Head double eagles are noticeably scarce in MS63 and rare finer: the 1902, 1905 and 1906. All three are reasonably affordable in MS63 but double in price in MS64 and are almost unattainable in Gem.
This frosty orange-gold example is accurately graded with some scuffs in the left obverse field precluding a higher grade. Unlike many similarly graded examples of this date, it hasn't been messed-with and the surfaces are stable.
CAC approved PCGS MS63 1906 double eagles brought $6,463 in March 2016 and $7,344 in August 2014.
This coin seems like the best value grade for the date as a nice PCGS MS64 will set you back at least $15,000.
CAC has approved 13 in MS63 with 10 finer.
