NICE COLLECTOR GRADE 1849-D $1 IN AN OGH
Housed in an old green label holder and with the sharpness of at least AU50 by today’s standards.
The 1849-D is the most common gold dollar from this mint. This makes it popular with type collectors seeking a single affordable Dahlonega issue.
This piece is better struck than normal from properly aligned dies. Both sides show nice deep orange-gold color and the sharpness is at least AU50—if not finer. There are old marks on the obverse at 10:00 and 3:00 which are partially hidden by the depth of the color.
The most recent APR for an 1849-D dollar in PCGS EF40 is Heritage 6/16: 5198 at $1,880.
This is a neat little coin with good eye appeal.
