FAMOUS 1885 THREE DOLLAR GOLD PIECE

The tiny mintage of 801 business strikes has made this date well-known outside of specialists and this has led to strong demand for the 1885 three dollars.

This evenly worn example was likely a pocket piece as the surfaces are exceptionally smooth. The color is a rich green-gold with peripheral accents of red. The eye appeal is exceptional.

No EF45 1885 three dollar has sold at auction. A non-CAC PCGS AU50 brought $2,820 as Heritage 9/14: 4421.

CAC has approved this 1 coin in EF45 with 20 finer.
