NGC MS64 1852-C GOLD DOLLAR

This is the second most available gold dollar from this mint after the 1851-C. The 1852-C is rare in properly graded MS64 and very rare in Gem with around three or four known.

This is a very well-made example with smooth, frosty surfaces and sharp overall definition. Both sides show medium lemon-yellow with a swath of deeper color at the left obverse. A few small ticks can be seen in the left obverse field and there is a patch of mint-made planchet roughness near the star at 5:00.

Six APRs for NGC MS64 1852-C gold dollars have occurred since 2008 with some repeats. The low price was $12,357 in July 2013 while the high price was $15,863 in February 2013. No sales have taken place in over five years.

Here is an ideal coin for the gold dollar collector who wants a non-1851-C as his high grade Type One issue from the Charlotte Mint.
