The 1852-D is one of the more available dates in the Dahlonega half eagle series. It is not as available, though, as it once was and it is always in demand as a popular type coin.
This pleasing example has natural green-gold color with choice, non-abraded surfaces. It is somewhat weakly struck, even by the standards of the date, with weakness seen at the borders; especially on the obverse.
Surprisingly, no NGC EF40 example of this date has sold at auction since Heritage 2/11: 4461 which brought $1,898.
